Office Cooling – Temporary Chiller Hire to Provide Comfort Cooling During Decarbonisation Project
The Challenge
A large multi-storey office complex was undergoing a major decarbonisation project, part of a broader sustainability initiative aimed at improving the building’s energy efficiency and significantly reducing its carbon footprint. The works involved a full replacement of the existing chiller system, which meant the building would be without air conditioning for several months during the late spring and summer period.
With hundreds of employees still working on-site, the building management team needed a temporary comfort cooling solution to ensure employees would have office cooling during the upgrade works.
The Solution
Following a detailed site survey and planning phase, we provided a turnkey temporary cooling package to meet the client’s needs:

Buffer tanks to ensure system stability and efficient operation

High-capacity hosing for seamless integration

Craned rooftop installation to position equipment with minimal impact on site operations

Connection to the building’s existing flow and return to deliver chilled water to internal systems
To avoid disruption to the building’s operations and ensure a safe, efficient lift, all equipment was installed at 7am on a Saturday morning, as employees work at the site on weekends. The temporary chillers were fully commissioned and operational the same day.
The system was designed to deliver consistent comfort cooling across the office space, ensuring staff remained comfortable and productive while the permanent system was being upgraded.
