At Celsius Hire, we were proud not only of the work we delivered for our clients but also of the incredible efforts our team made outside of work to support important causes. This year, our very own engineer Connor Young took on a huge challenge for a brilliant local charity.
On 13th September, Connor descended over 100 metres down Portsmouth’s iconic Spinnaker Tower as part of the Solent Mind Charity Abseil. This event raised vital funds for Solent Mind, a mental health charity that provides support and services to people across Hampshire.

“In the lead up to the challenge it was cold, wet and windy… Possibly not the ideal weather for Connors abseil.
Soon after I arrived and met with his wonderful family (and number one supporters) it was time for Connor to begin his decent. And as soon as he stepped off of the ledge (seemingly miles above us) the clouds bust, and the wind doubled down.
Watching him abseiling down with pure confidence and control as rain water was pouring onto him …(and all over me)… I was reminded of the first time he and I had met. Back then Connor was a quieter less assured personality, today he was full of life, showing unbound strength and confidence as he descended. Connor really is something else; and we are incredibly proud of everything he has achieved!
I am so proud to be involved with technicians like Connor; he overcomes huge obstacles with a smile upon his face whilst raising money for a great cause.”
The Three Peaks Challenge – 2024 Recap
Last year, Celsius Hire chose Solent Mind as our official charity partner. They deliver essential mental health services, offer accessible support, and campaign to improve awareness and understanding of mental health in our local communities. Following our successful Three Peaks Challenge fundraiser in 2023, we were delighted to continue supporting such a deserving cause.
The brilliant Connor was part of the Celsius Three Peaks team;

Connor showed incredible courage in stepping up for this challenge, and we were all behind him as he abseiled one of the South Coast’s most famous landmarks. We were proud to raise funds to support Solent Mind’s work and are grateful for all the donations received.
Every contribution, no matter the size, went directly towards helping Solent Mind continue their vital work in mental health.
