Some people find their way into an industry through careful planning.
Others, like Billy, seem destined for it long before they even realise.
Billy’s story starts where many good engineering stories do, on the docks. Growing up watching his dad repair refrigerated containers, he was surrounded by heavy industry from the very beginning. That early exposure planted a seed… and the rest is history!

A Steady Hand in a Demanding Industry
Ask Billy what he brings to his role and you won’t get a rehearsed answer; you’ll get honesty and passion;
“There isn’t anything I can’t work on or with,” he says. “But more than anything, I’d like to think I bring calm.”
It’s a simple statement but it speaks volumes. In an industry where emergency hires and tight deadlines are the norm, being the calm in the storm is no small thing.
Billy is a highly skilled engineer working across both heating and cooling systems. From boiler installations to complex chiller setups, he brings a broad technical ability backed by hands-on experience. He also holds Gas Safe, F-Gas qualifications, allowing him to safely and competently work on both boiler systems, refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
His manager Neil saw that capability early on. “When we first met for a coffee, it was clear Billy was keen on the industry and invested in doing things the right way.”
That mindset, doing things properly, methodically and without cutting corners, has become a hallmark of Billy’s work. Neil describes him as thorough and someone who prefers order to chaos, adding that he regularly goes over and above to save the day.

Meaningful Work and Memorable Sites
Over time, Billy has worked on a wide range of projects but some stand out more than others, not just for their scale but for their impact.
“The best installs for me are care home jobs,” he says. “I get a real satisfaction out of making them warm again, it’s something you can actually see making a real impact to people.”
It’s a reminder that behind every install is a real-world outcome. Heating is not just a system, it is comfort, safety and dignity, especially in vulnerable environments.
That said, not every job is about familiarity. Some leave an impression simply because of where they take you.

Playing a Key Role at Celsius Hire
Since joining Celsius Hire, Billy has become an integral part of the team, not just in day-to-day operations but in the company’s wider growth.
Neil highlights Billy’s involvement in achieving key accreditations such as OFTEC, F-gas and Gas Safe; as well as his contribution to some of the company’s largest projects of the year.
Beyond the technical achievements, it is Billy’s investment in the company that really stands out.
“I encourage him to regularly challenge my views and decisions,” Neil says. “And he does.”
That openness goes both ways. For Billy, one of the things that sets Celsius Hire apart is the culture.
“It’s great to have a voice and people who actually listen,” he explains. “Me and Neil, ‘boss man’, are often discussing how to improve things and for some reason he listens to me.”

A Team That Works Together
If there is one theme that comes up again and again when Billy talks about Celsius Hire, it is the team.
“No one is ever too busy to help anyone,” he says. “No one knows more than the next person. We have a great team across the whole company.”
It is not just about individual skill, it is about collective effort. That sense of shared responsibility and mutual support is what keeps things moving, even when the pressure is on.
Neil sees it too, often receiving Billy’s trademark thumbs up updates from site.
“When I see those come through, I know everything’s been sorted, issues, problems or obstacles, all dealt with.”
It is a small gesture but one that has come to mean a lot. A quiet signal that the job is done and done right.

Passion, Progress and Looking Ahead
For Billy, Celsius Hire is not just another workplace, it is somewhere he genuinely believes in.
“It is by far the best hire company going,” he says. “Everyone has a real passion.”
That environment has helped him continue to grow, building on his skills while staying grounded in the values that matter, doing the job properly, supporting the team and always finding a way to get things over the line.
It is clear that Billy represents something essential. Reliability, adaptability and a calm approach in an industry that does not always make things easy.
